Supporting Document Component

  • This course is designed to help students develop the skills required to graph and write various functions used in the real world.  While we will use familiar math concepts, the connections you make to evaluate and analyze problems will serve you well in future classes and projects.

Texas Algebra I is specifically aligned to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Algebra I Standards and Benchmarks. The Algebra I curriculum builds on the algebraic concepts covered in your previous math classes.

Algebra I features ample opportunity for students to hone their computational skills by working through practice problem sets before moving on to formal assessment. To assist students for whom language presents a barrier to learning or who are not reading at grade level, Algebra I includes audio resources in both Spanish and English. Texas Algebra I content is based on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) standards and is specifically aligned to TEKS Algebra I Standards and Benchmarks.

  • For students with an IEP/504 Plan, we provide accommodations listed to meet the student needs. Many accommodations are built into our courses (extended time on assignments, flexible exam setting). Accommodations that are not already built into the course may still be met through individualizing the presentation, providing guided notes, live teaching/tutorial sessions, phone contact, and one-on-one conversations.
