Course Syllabus Components

  • Algebra I A
  • Students must complete all assignments, quizzes, discussion forums, projects, and exams in this course. The instructor may require the student to scan documents to submit for uploading.
  • Assessments will include assignments that will be uploaded to the LMS, quizzes, discussion forums, projects, and exams.  All exams must be proctored by local district personnel. Specific questions about the grading policy can be answered in the course syllabus.
  • No additional materials will be provided by the course provider.  All materials are available online.
  • The student must have a computer and access to high speed internet. A TI-84 Graphing Calculator is recommended. Desmos.com is an alternative for the TI-84. Students will also need to have access to a video camera that will take short videos and have the ability to upload the video (Most cell phones have this feature). A spiral notebook is also required for taking notes and working assignments in.

Supporting Document Component

  • This course emphasizes the fundamental algebra concepts and skills assessed by the mandatory state assessment test. After a brief review of 7th and 8th grade pre-algebra concepts, students will begin an extensive study of two-dimensional graphing along with solving linear equations and inequalities in both one and two variables. The use of graphing calculators will be integrated where appropriate, and there will be a strong emphasis on applied problem solving. Other topics will include graphing and solving systems of equations and quadratic equations; operations with polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, exponents and radical expressions.

  • Instructor modified as per student IEP requirements upon submission of those requirements. School Counselor and Student are required to provide IEP documentation prior to beginning the course. Any work submitted prior to notifying Teacher of IEP requirements will be graded according to grading rubric on the assignment.
